HOW TO PARTICIPATE

We want to help you with participating in the CapCup. On this page, you can find a couple of examples of different kinds of participants and what they have to arrange in order to join the CapCup. Use this for inspiration on how to join yourself!

RICHARD, RECENTLY STARTED AS A YOUNG PROFESSIONAL AT CAPGEMINI

During my onboarding period I got informed about the CapCup. As I’m eager for sailing I made myself known by subscribing to the site: www.CapCup.nl. I announced myself on the site and had the opportunity to board on one of the boats, hired by a colleague. We picked up the boat on Friday in Monnikendam and went to Medemblik, for the introduction drinks.

What I had to arrange to join the CapCup this year:

  • I had to sign up at the CapCup website.
  • I pro-actively contacted skippers on the website to ask for available spots on their boats.
  • When the group was formed, we planned on grocery shopping, sailing the boat to the CapCup on Friday and vice versa on Sunday.

SOPHIE, WORKING FOR MANY YEARS AT CAPGEMINI

I have been participating with the CapCup for many years. In fact, it is a regular event which takes place every year in September. Sailing together with colleagues and former colleagues is an excellent opportunity to share today’s stories and past experiences. As we don’t see each other every day: a great way to meet! I don’t have my own boat, but I rent one every year and I have a spot for additional colleagues who want to join the CapCup.

What I had to arrange to join the CapCup this year:

  • I had to sign up at the CapCup website and I announced that I have some free spots onboard for passengers.
  • I searched the internet for a boat rental company. The rental page on the CapCup site helped me with tips and tricks on how to do this and what I had to take care off.
  • I pro-actively searched for my crew. A few close colleagues wanted to join and I also contacted a couple of passengers on the CapCup site that didn’t find a boat yet and I was happy to take them on board.
  • When the group was formed, we planned on grocery shopping, sailing the boat to the CapCup on Friday and vice versa on Sunday.

BERTAND, A CUSTOMER OF CAPGEMINI

As I work with Capgemini and Sogeti colleagues, we have spoken about company activities. As the CapCup was mentioned we discussed the availability of a boat and concluded I could participate with my own boat in the CapCup. By the way, an excellent way to get to know the colleagues of Capgemini and Sogeti better in an informal environment. The CapCup organization was super!

What I had to arrange to join the CapCup this year:

  • I spoke to my Capgemini and Sogeti colleagues and they referred me to the CapCup website.
  • I signed up with my boat, my colleagues signed up as passengers and I assigned them to my boat.
  • On Friday, we sailed the boat to the place where the CapCup took place. A good training exercise for the next day!

MARIA, A GERMAN CAPGEMINI EMPLOYEE

Working at Cagemini Consulting in Germany we got introduced to the CapCup by our Dutch Capgemini Consulting colleagues. We didn’t want to wait too long: we are going to win! As we even won the Berend Botje Bolkaal in 2017, you will see us back in 2018!  We love the IJsselmeer, we love sailing, the people and … the afterparty!!

What I had to arrange to join the CapCup this year:

  • I had to sign up at the CapCup website and my colleagues from Germany did the same.
  • I searched the internet for a boat rental company. The rental page on the CapCup site helped me with tips and tricks on how to do this and what I had to take care off.
  • We decided on when to travel to the Netherlands, where to pick up the boat and who is going to be the skipper.
  • We sailed the boat on Friday from the rental company to the place where the CapCup would start. We sailed back on Sunday and then we returned to Germany after a great weekend!
